East London Community Foundation Grassroots Grants (Barking & Dagenham, Haringey, Havering, Redbridge and Waltham Forest)

The Big Idea

The target for East London Community Foundation is to build a £3 million endowment fund by 2012. The £1. 076 million match challenge on offer from the Government can help us raise a further £2. 15 million towards our target. The Boroughs we are specifically working in under Grassroots are Barking & Dagenham, Haringey, Havering, Redbridge and Waltham Forest.

East London Community Foundation (ELCF) is asking local people, businesses, faith groups and not for profit organisations to help East and North East London achieve this challenge.

The value of donations can be increased by 256% if they are received by ELCF between now and March 2011; for higher rate tax payers the value of your net gift can increase by up to 336%.

Potential donors will be offered a direct cash incentive to give money to help build up an endowed fund on behalf of local communities. The income that these funds generate will then be used to ensure long term, sustainable, financial support for local charitable groups and projects which provide really effective support to people in need, such as friendship clubs for older people, support groups for people with disabilities and positive activities for young people.

Gifts of any size may be made, but if you give over £10,000 you can also be involved in specifying the kinds of issues and geographical areas where your gift may be used. For donations of over £5000 please click on the major donor enquiries button below.

East London Community Foundation is firmly rooted in its local community and are experts in supporting local organisations and in matching them with local donors.

Any donations that are made, together with the match funding, are invested in special endowment funds and invested effectively for the long term benefit of local people in need. Every year your gift will be part of a fund that contributes to helping local people and, in that sense, it is a gift that keeps on giving.
