Grassroots Grants Lincolnshire - Endowment Match Challenge
The Big Idea
To raise permanent endowment. Our target is £3 million so that, from the interest, we can give £150,000 a year to people in need, from the Humber to the Wash. The government will match your donations 2:1. For example: Give £8,000 net of tax (£10,000 minus 20% tax relief). We add £2,800 gift aid to your donation, claim £6,400 grassroots top-up and the value is doubled to £19,200!
We are the County's largest independent grant maker, distributing over £1 million a year to good causes. We don't have lots of overheads and staff. The vast bulk of donations go direct to local people.
To date, the Lincolnshire Community Foundation has awarded £180K in Grassroots Grants to over 70 projects, with another 45 applications pending (worth £140K). Successful applicants have included a venue costs and new equipment for a luncheon club for elderly people; cost of food parcels for the most disadvantaged in Lincoln; creation of allotments at a nature reserve; music workshops for young children in a very isolated area; English lessons for new arrival communities; affordable counseling services; sports volunteer training; activities for young people in a deprived ward; running costs for a residents association. I expect demand for this fund to increase, particularly in view of the current economic climate.
