Somerset Grassroots Grants Endowment Challenge

The Big Idea

The Somerset Grassroots Grants Endowment Challenge is unique opportunity to greatly increase the impact of your charitable giving in Somerset. Thanks to a Government incentive, if we can raise £1m we will secure an additional £0. 5m from the Government, solely for the benefit of Somerset. With gift aid and tax relief accounted for, the value of donations may be multiplied by over 190% or more.

The Somerset Grassroots Grants Endowment Challenge is unique opportunity to greatly increase the impact of your charitable giving in Somerset.

Any donations that are made, together with the match funding, are invested effectively for the long term benefit of Somerset people. Every year your gift will be part of a fund that contributes to helping local people and, in that sense, it is a gift that keeps on giving.

Volunteers help over 500 elderly and disabled clients across the district. Clients are able to stay in their own homes for longer through the services provided such as gardening, garden redesign, home maintenance and a laundry service. This project supports a wide range of individuals who would not be able to afford commercial rates.

The Somerset Grassroots Grants Endowment Match Challenge is a major incentive to donors wishing to support the long term growth of local small charities and voluntary organisations tackling poverty and disadvantage throughout Somerset. The projects we support really are relevant to local needs, touching the lives of those most in need and helping to build stronger communities for the future.

Gifts of any size may be made, but if you give over £13,000 you could create a personalised "Named Fund" worth £25,000 which enables you to specify the kinds of issues and geographical areas where your gift may be used.
