Burning the Clocks with Young Same Sky

December 2011 - December 2012

The Big Idea

A legacy project designed by 16- 25yr olds to develop their employability and enterprise skills. Through work experience on a local event Burning the Clocks we provide young people with transferable skills in event design, light art technology, fundraising, community and project development

Location

The project workshops are located on the following estates Whitehawk, Moulsecoomb, Hollingdean, Coldean and Peacehaven. These are on the outskirts of the city of Brighton and Hove. The event brings all communities together for one evening in the city centre.

Beneficiaries

Young Same Sky come from geographical areas of deprivation across these estates in Brighton and Hove. The estates that they live on are on the outskirts of the city and It is difficult for them to access cultural and creative opportunities let alone training and employment. Our work aims to develop the core skills of these young people and create opportunities for them to thrive as individuals so that they can contribute to their community and the City.
