Need
Education is key to our planet's future. If our children do not learn about the importance of our environment then how can we expect them to care for it and protect it when they are older? The worlds tropical rainforests are home to a diverse community of plants, animals and people. They clean the air, make rain and regulate our climate. Deforestation is shrinking the remaining forests at an alarming rate. Eden is raising awareness of the importance of the worlds rainforests.
Solution
The Rainforest Experience will provide an innovative educational tool bringing the rainforest to a large audience who would never get the chance to visit it. Experiential learning will break down the barriers to engagement - helping meet the needs of schools, colleges and universities and the general public. We really want to make a difference and hope that people will leave knowing they can make positive changes to the way they live that will help conserve rainforests around the world.
Aims
To create an educational rainforest experience at the Eden Project.
Activities
» To build a rainforest educational resource including a lookout and a trekkers trail through the rainforest.
Success will be when we are able to record a change in the behaviour of visitors to the rainforest experience so that they are aware of the impact of the individual.
Impact
We hope that the long term change will be the preservation of precious rainforests around the world.
Risk
The rainforest experience will be at a high level and we must ensure that the temperature is not so high that it prevents visitors from being able to enjoy the experience. We have already established our rainforest look-out which is giving us valuable skills and experience.
Reporting
An annual report including photographs will be available to all donors. Donors are also invited to visit Eden and come and explore our rainforest biome and visit the Rainforest Experience and the lookout.

Location
The Rainforest Experience will be a major new development at the Eden Project in Bodelva, Cornwall, PL24 2SG. A new rainforest mini-site on the Eden website and a comprehensive learning programme will make Eden Europe's leading rainforest educational resource.
Beneficiaries
Over 1 million visitors a year will benefit from the educational value of the project and ultimately everyone will benefit from the protection of our rainforests as Eden generates behavioural change. People will learn how they can make positive changes to the way they live that will help conserve rainforests around the world.
Why Us?
In the last 10 years we have learned how to create compelling education experiences and how to communicate effectively with a wide audience, including those who were previously disengaged. With 10 years experience under our belt and a fully mature rainforest, there has never been a better time to communicate one of the most vital messages of our time: the importance of conserving the world's rainforests in our battle against climate change.
