Need
The problem is trying to solve plight of orphans in Zambia. Funding will support children who have been orphaned through the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Many children have to drop out of school due to lack of funds, the charity aims to get all these children back into education as soon as possible. Education is the key to overcome poverty, hunger and disease and gives hope and a future to children who have been orphaned.
Solution
The problem will be solved by using funds to educate orphans in Zambia, providing them with access to safe, clean water, feeding programs and improved health facilities. Without these in place no advancement will be made. Education is free only up to grade seven and throughout the years uniforms, shoes and books have to be bought. After grade seven school and exam fees incur. We will provide all the above which will improve the chances for the orphans obtaining a better life.
Aims
To provide an education for orphans in Zambia with the aim of reducing poverty
Activities
» Advertise extensively on our website, newsletter and social networking sites.
» Reach out to tourists who visit the villages for a cultural tour when travelling to the area of the Victoria Falls
Success will be demonstrated by results from the orphans showing improved literacy skills, reduction in teenage pregnancies and a fall in the number of new cases of HIV
Impact
Our long term aim to see improved health and educate facilities and a reduction in poverty and disease. Less teenage pregnancies and a chance for the orphans to live a life free of HIV and malaria. Receiving a full education also gives the orphans a chance of employment. Documenting the results to show donors, providing statistics, sending out newsletters and posting articles on the website and social networking sites.
Risk
The risks are orphans getting sick through lack of healthcare and unclean water and poor sanitation. We have considerably improved the sanitation and health care in the communities where we work and have added a new bore hole to each school. We provide mosquito nets and educational workshops on HIV/AIDS, malaria, water, teenage pregnancies, drugs and alcohol.
Reporting
We pride ourselves in our communication with our donors by giving regular feedback through email, reports, newsletters and social networking sites
