Founded in 1987, British Youth Opera’s mission is to discover, develop and display the next generation of opera professionals.

It does this by providing professional coaching, rehearsal and performance opportunities for young singers, musicians and technical trainees on the threshold of their careers via a programme of workshops, rehearsals and productions.

BYO’s two primary activities are its annual ‘Summer Season’ and ‘Easter Workshops’, for which singers are selected by a two-stage audition process which receives over 400 applicants each year, with auditions taking place in England, Scotland and Wales.
